"Zack... it's just a chocobo." 
"...oh."
I imagined Zack Fair's first mission to be a bit like this. I pictured him to be excited and eager to be on his very first mission, but then maybe a bit jumpy, not knowing what to expect. So, when that bush, there on the left, starts to shake, he jumps onto his mentor Angeal's back for protection, expecting a monster to appear. Instead, out pops... a chibi chocobo.
This is based off of a scene in the movie 'Tangled'. 
I didn't know exactly when Angeal would have become a SOLDIER 1st Class, but I made him one here. I knew that Zack would have started at the bottom, with, I suppose, SOLDIER 3rd Class. He's about 13, here. And yes, in case anyone noticed, I do realize that 3rd Class SOLDIERs are supposed to have longer gloves, but I didn't bother to fix it. And about the shading... there is none, as you can see. I'm not very good at shading.
